Check out our latest Video Slideshow, Skull half tank, step by step.

This Tank was created as a promotional item for one of our display stands located at a local motorbike shop.
I wanted to render a realistic looking skull and then engulf it in flames, I chose the blue fire as something different and it always looks effective on a black base.

This video slideshow, gives you a basic understanding on how the steps were completed in order to create this particular artwork, feel free to put your own spin on it by experimenting with different skulls and or colours.

Hope you enjoy the Video, remember to visit us @ www.airbrushasylum.com.au to see more artwork and Tips & Tricks.

Busy day @ Airbrush Asylum with new projects Coming Soon.

Another week over and a busy one, here at Airbrush Asylum we are frantically working through some exciting projects with some new artworks being created soon on some very different products.

Currently, we are doing the final details on the Dragon and Gargoyle Harley with pictures on the website and social networking once the client has unveiled the bike at its first show.

We are also in close negotiations with a major company who will hopefully be completing some custom helmets for, amongst other items which they want airbrushed and branded with our art..we will mention and promote the company once everything is 100% confirmed, so stay tuned.

We are also half way through a mural on both sides of a VW Kombi, which is receiving a wave with palm trees and a sunrise on both sides, this van will catch everyone's attention.

So that's it for another update, remember to check out our site and other social networking sites and until next time....keep paintin'

This effect of combining real fire and skulls is really popular and a fantastic way to customize your Harley, helmet, Car, hotrod etc...it can be completed in a variety of colours and every design is unique as the artwork is completed freehand using some specially designed templates.

Checking out the Australian Motorcycle Expo

Going to check out all the crazy bikes and choppers @ the Australian Motorcycle Expo today at Jeff's shed.

We just returned from visiting SEMA show in Las Vegas and checking out some cars and bikes in New York, so visiting this show will be great.

Hopefully we will see some great new ideas and plenty of airbrushed bikes.

Airbrush Asylum is interested in having our own trade stand at the show when it returns in 2014, so if all goes to plan we should be able to show off some insane examples of our airbrush work on a variety of our customers bikes.

We hope that everyone enjoys the show and until next time....keep paintin'

SEMA is over and we are now in New York

Airbrush Asylum has been busy doing some airbrushing at SEMA show in Vegas. We were lucky enough to meet some incredible artists and pioneers of our industry, including Craig Fraser, Ryan 'Ryno' Templeton, Mike Lavalee, Gearbox, Steve Driscoll even legendary custom painter Jon Kosmoski and too many more to name.

We were able to complete a custom aluminium panel at the House of Kolor booth, which was then auctioned off for charity.

We are now currently in New York exploring many sights that the city has to offer and also checking out lots of art related experiences and attractions.

We are looking forward to SEMA next year and will possibly check out LA before the show, hoping to visit Coast Airbrush and catch up with some of our airbrush friends in California.

Brain and Neuron Harley, progress so far.

One of our most involved projects to date since we airbrushed the World War Harley.

The pictures shown depict only the background so far. The neurons have been drawn freehand and then cut using an xacto knife on application tape which we wrapped all of the parts in, so that it would act as masking.

Now that all of the neurons have been completed and rendered, each part will now receive a blue candy as chosen by the customer, this will tint all of the artwork that you see here with a blue tinge and give the effect that the neurons are trapped within the base Colour of the bike.

After the completion of the Candy the next step is to airbrush all of the other murals which will make up the foreground.

Thanks for reading and to check out more of our artwork or organize us to quote your project then feel free to visit us at www.airbrushasylum.com.au

The Long Room body painting for Harvey Norman and Map Coffee.

The night was a great success, with many of the representatives from both companies blown away by the body paint.

The two girls were airbrushed in a total of approx 3 hours with Wes & Myself working on different aspects of the designs on both girls.

Both designs were based on Body suits, with the Harvey Norman logos on the Blue background and also within the 'Bangs' on the girls arm & leg. Map Coffee received a Black bodysuit with Italian Maps airbrushed to represent a pattern in the material, Map coffee logos and even a cup of hot coffee airbrushed on the models back.

Harley and Custom Streetbike projects coming soon...

Things have been really going crazy here at Airbrush Asylum, we have been designing up some exciting projects which we will begin airbrushing soon.

The Brain & Neuron Harley should be getting started late next week with plenty of artwork being airbrushed as a background which will then be Candied over and then more murals over that....it's going to be a huge task but an impressive Harley when it's all said and done.

We have some Crazy looking streetbikes that we will be working on with some yet to be confirmed artwork, but it's looking like the R1 with a crazy looking custom 'single sided swingarm' and a 360 rear tyre, will be getting a B&W Grim Reaper with wings airbrushed up either sides of the fairings from front to back of the bike.
The other streetbike has some lettering confirmed for the rear and a combo of Matt and Gloss black paint for the base, with the possibility of a silhouetted Heath Ledger 'Joker' airbrushed on either side of the bikes fairings....artwork at this stage yet to be confirmed, but fingers crossed as these two projects will be some killer looking streetbikes.

Apart from the brain & Neuron Harley, & the streetbikes... we also will be working on another Harley which will be airbrushed with real fire and skulls in either green or blue Candy....once the customer confirms.

Thanks for reading and remember to keep checking this Blog to keep up to date with everything Airbrush Asylum and visit our website for the latest pix. www.airbrushasylum.com.au

Completed projects and things to come.

We have now completed the illustration of the planes on the aluminium composite panel. The artwork consisted of 3 planes in total, two of which were the Merlin and the Hawkeye planes which we originally airbrushed. Reproducing the actual murals that we airbrushed on the planes at a much smaller scale, where the owl mural was a total height of 3cm and the Merlin and Hawkeye no larger than 6cm, it was really challenging to paint them accurately and include all of the detail.

Another recent completion was the Vrod front and rear fender, which completed the original artwork that we did ...the Phoenix Vrod tank. The artwork was real fire over a limited edition Harley Grind paint scheme. We airbrushed feathers burning within the flames which related back to the original Phoenix.

We have many more exciting projects starting soon, one of which a completely themed Harley extremely involved as far as artwork is concerned it will be based around a Brain and Neuron theme.

That's all for now, thanks for reading and until next time....keep paintin'

Freddy Krueger Chopper Pictures.

Here are some pictures of the recently completed Freddy Krueger Chopper. The artwork was airbrushed freehand using references supplied by the customer, we airbrushed the real fire to interact with the murals and to act as a border whilst keeping with the Krueger theme.

Feel free to check out all of the pix of the Freddy Chopper @ our website :

Busy times here at Airbrush Asylum.

We have been really busy lately, working on some exciting projects with many more coming soon.

Our Vampire and Zombie half tanks have finally been completed and should be flowcoated by now ready to assemble on one of our display stands.

We recently completed a key for a 21st present, which included a black and white portrait with lettering and fireworks all on a laser cut MDF key and finished with 2pack clear. The customer was really happy and his daughter was amazed by the present that she received.

A Freddy Kreuger chopper has also been completed for one of our newest clients. The customer requested an image of Freddy's face burning with realistic fire on either side of the tank, we also airbrushed Freddy walking from a burning red forest on the rear fender and a silhouetted Freddy showing off his glove all within realistic flames on the front fender.

We are currently working on an illustration which has been painted on an aluminium composite panel , this project is nearly complete and along with the other artworks mentioned should appear soon on our website www.airbrushasylum.com.au

That's all for now, thanks for reading and until next time....keep paintin'

Phoenix Vrod Harley Tank, Part #3

Towards the middle of 2011, we had a customer approach us who had a limited edition paint set from Harley on his Vrod. He ended up getting a stone chip on the Tank cover and contacted us to see if we were able to repair the section? Due to the fact that the paint scheme was a Candy Red over a Grind effect we were unable to repair only that section, therefore we suggested that a mural covering the area but keeping the background would be a better, more impressive option.
Due to the colour scheme the customer mentioned that he liked Phoenix's, we loved the idea and drew up a sketch which he approved and we then began airbrushing the fiery phoenix that you will see in this 3 part step by step video.
